Iranian Traditional Medicine

The groundwork for launching and approving the field of traditional medicine was laid in the Ministry of Health in 2006 (1385 Solar Hijri). Four universities—Tehran University of Medical Sciences, Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences, Iran University of Medical Sciences, and Shahed University—announced their readiness to admit students. For the first time in Iran, the Faculty of Traditional Medicine of Tehran was established at Tehran University of Medical Sciences in 2007 (1386 Solar Hijri). So far, 10 faculties of Iranian traditional medicine have been activated in the country.
